What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice of inserting hair-fine needles into points along meridians or channels of the body in order to balance the flow of energy in the body to address a wide variety of health issues.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture does not hurt, but you may feel an occasional needling sensation.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, in certain cases. We are currently an in-network provider with Landmark and certain workers’ compensation insurers.  Also, you may have out-of-network acupuncture coverage under your specific plan, and we are happy to check for you if you provide your insurance information.

How long is an acupuncture treatment?

It depends on what the treatment is for, but generally speaking, needles are retained from 25 to 45 minutes after insertion.

How many acupuncture treatments do I need?

It depends on what condition you have, as each case is different, but a series of treatments is usually needed, particularly for chronic conditions.

How should I prepare for an acupuncture treatment?

There is nothing in particular you need to do to prepare for a treatment, but you may want to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.  Some people may feel light headed if treated on an empty stomach, so you may want to have a light snack beforehand.

What are the other modalities that you may use in addition to acupuncture?
Cupping, Tui Na (Chinese massage), and gua sha may be used, depending on the condition.
