As a second-generation licensed acupuncturist, Elene was raised in a healing arts family where Traditional Chinese Medicine principles were considered a way of life. Some of her earliest and fondest memories include watching her grandfather, William T.R. Chung, a Great Grandmaster of T’ai Chi Chuan, practice and teach T’ai Chi in his Berkeley, California studio. As a young girl, she would often accompany her father, Dr. Frank W.T. Chung, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, as he continued to hone his practice through mentorship with master practitioners.
In the Chung family home, acupuncture treatments and herbal remedies were a routine part of everyday life. There was usually an herbal concoction brewing on the stovetop, and family meals typically incorporated the Chinese medicine philosophy of maintaining health through balancing the properties inherent in various foods.
After finishing college, Elene was curious about what else the world had to offer, taking a detour from her family’s business to attend law school and embark upon a legal career. She soon realized that law was not going to be her ultimate calling. Searching for greater personal fulfillment and meaning, Elene realized that she need look no further than the wisdom and experience that her own family’s legacy provided. Beginning in 2010, she started on the formal path to becoming a licensed acupuncturist and looks forward to being able to share her family’s legacy with you.
